CFAA History

1973

A small group of Canadian fire alarm professionals, led by Jack Duggan of Fire Devices, started to explore the idea of a fire alarm industry association in Canada. After considering opening a chapter of the U.S.-based Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA), they opted instead to create an independent association with a unique Canadian identity. The inaugural meeting of the CFAA took place on July 10, 1973, with the original founders in attendance.

Today

The CFAA remains committed to the effectiveness and use of fire alarm systems across Canada. Our national presence continues to grow, along with our training programs, seminars, and community outreach initiatives. CFAA is proud to serve the needs of our members, technicians, users, and the public.
